Are Ford 6.4 Diesel Any Good
Are Ford 6.4 Diesel Any Good. It is not cost efficient to use a new engine every 2 to 3 years. However, it was eventually found to have its own array of problems.

To be fair, the connecting rods and crankshaft on the 6.4 are very strong and they’ve been proven to be capable of holding up to 900whp, but the pistons are a different story. Ford introduced the 6.4l power stroke in 2008. Yes the economy is part of this.
If The 6.0 Or 6.4 Were Any Good, They Would Have Stayed With Them Longer.
I loved the 7.3l for multiple reasons but just sold my last one. Like hpfp failures, taking out injectors with it (and possibly engine). 6.7 has power to spare, but the supporting systems on them are where most of the failures happen it seems.

The ford 6.4 is a power stroke diesel engine. As for ford i personally wouldnt buy a 6.4. The 6.4l’s bottom end is one of its weak points.
I Drive A 7.3 As My Daily Driver, And It.
Some consider it a great improvement over the 6.0 while others claim the 6.4 is just as bad. Cracked pistons, failed lifters, timing cover cavitation, radiator failures, turbos, broken rocker arms.the list goes on. It was the last diesel engine for ford made by international.

When a 6.4 has a failure, its big $$. The 6.4 has a good reputation, but it isn’t immune to engine problems. Many owners choose the engine for its performance and reliability.
Unfortunately, The 6.4 Powerstroke Hasn’t Earned The Greatest Reputation, Either.
Foolish twin turbo set up that causes tons of issues. However, it was eventually found to have its own array of problems. To put it simply, the bottom end of the 6.0l is one of its better features.
